Kümnele kuldmehikesele pretendeerib 27. märtsil Hollywoodis peetaval tseremoonial Denis Villeneuve'i lavastatud eepiline ulmefilm "Düün" ("Dune"). Eestlaste pöidlahoidmist paraku ei saatnud edu, kui selgus, et Andris Feldmanise ja Livia Ulmani mugandatud Soome-Vene-Eesti-Saksa koostööfilm "Kupee nr 6" ei saanud parima rahvusvahelise filmi kategoorias nominatsiooni. Parima välismaise filmi Oscari nominatsiooni pälvisid ingliskeelsete pealkirjadega linateosed "Drive My Car" (Jaapan), "Flee" (Taani), "The Hand of God" (Itaalia), "Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom" (Bhutan) ja "The Worst Person in the World" (Norra).
